I was thinking this morning as we finished the very tasty “none-premium brand” of strawberries that it’s such a strange way of living that we expect all our fruit and vegetables to be the same size, colour and shape. That the non-premium brands are packaged with labeling detailing “not all the same size”. When did we all become so worried about every strawberry being the same size?
has recently written an interesting article on the same topic – it’s estimated that 20 – 40% of food in the UK is thrown away before it even gets to the shops due to it’s non-conformist shape. A bit of a shame and a waste….
I’ll be seeking out ugly fruit and veg in quite a determined way from now onwards!
